Floating shelves look clean because the brackets are hidden inside the shelf. Concealed shelf supports are steel rods that fix into the wall and slide into holes drilled in the back of the shelf.
1. Choose the right support
- Masonry walls (brick, block): Häfele 120mm concealed shelf support with wall plug.
- Timber or masonry, adjustable: height and tilt adjustable support lets you level the shelf after fitting.
- Screw-fixed: side-adjustable screw-fix support.
2. Check the shelf
Use a solid shelf thick enough to take the rod with wood all round it – check the dimension drawing on each product page. Plasterboard alone is not strong enough; fix into masonry or studs.
3. Mark and drill the wall
Use at least two supports per shelf, spaced evenly. Level the line, drill to the depth shown on the drawing, and fit the supports.
4. Drill the shelf
Transfer the positions to the back edge of the shelf and drill straight and level to the length of the rod.
5. Slide on and fix
Push the shelf onto the rods. Adjustable supports can be fine-tuned so the shelf sits perfectly level.
